Geoff Hoon has written to Alan Johnson, the Education Secretary, to tell him that he wants the benefits of the EU to be taught in schools. The plan would be to alter the indifference of children to EU membership. Both UKIP and the Tories were against the proposal, and the NUT said it contradicted the plans of Gordon Brown to teach 'Britishness'.
